Where they came from?
Chaussures Le Dépôt is one of the oldest running shoe stores in Montreal. They opened in 1931. at 501 Rue de l'Église in Verdun. In 1980, they expanded into the adjacent space and openend a Naturalizer concept store in this new space. In 1990, they changed their Naturalizer concept store into a Clarks store.
The present owner, Daniel Benoit, started to work there at the early age of 15 doing windows displays. He later became a partner in 1981. Seven years later he bought out his other partners and became the sole owner.
In 2006, Daniel Benoit and his son partenered up to open the first New Balance store in Quebec. The store is located in Complexe Les Ailes which is located in a historical building with a contemporary decor. After their last opening in 2006, they continued there expansion.
2008. was the year when Chaussures Le Dépôt expanded to another adjacent space and opened a liquidation store named Chaussures 521. Here the clients can find end of line products with lower prices without compromising on quality
In 2013 they opened a new store in Pointe Claire which combines 2 different styles of shoes: New Balance products on one half and on the other side casual and comfort brands like Clarks, SAS, Piccadilly, Cobb Hill, Dunham and many more .
In 2014 Chaussures Le Dépôt (Verdun) expanded again in a third adjacent space and opened a Rieker store. This store is located at 513 Rue de l'Église.
In 2016 Jonathan Benoit became the sole owner of the New Balance Montreal store, as well as Chaussures Le Dépôt (Pointe Claire).
What can you find there?
They mainly specialize in comfort shoes, ranging from sport to casual shoes.
They also have a good selection of orthopedic shoes as well.
A nice collection of handbags is also available.
Brands you can find include: New balance, Skechers, Riekers, Clarks, Cobb Hill, Pantagonia, Jomos, Mephisto, Piccadily, Desigual, SAS and many others.
Chaussures Le Dépôt built its reputation on offering its clients a variety of products, being able to carry sizes for women from 4 to 12 and for men from 7 to 18!
